About UMove Fitness
UMove Fitness is a unique fitness studio that combines Pilates, Calisthenics, and Movement concepts to train people to move better.
UMove Fitness works deeply in providing physical education rather than just physical training by enhancing the classes with additional online training materials.

It started with Michel Velasco opening up Pilates Plus in 2013 mainly to teach Pilates exercises to his long-time clients in Singapore.
But because of Michel’s varied interest in sports and other exercises, we started to teach Calisthenics and Movement classes in the studio. That is when we decided to branch out to open UMove in 2017. This gave us more freedom to open more classes that we are personally interested in, like Capoeira, Indoor Parkour training, Acroyoga, and even contemporary dance classes.
Pilates Plus is still operating to this day but is focused mainly on Pilates classes both on the mat and equipment at the same time holding some of UMove’s Calisthenics and Movement classes. We call it now the UMove/Pilates Plus branch which is located at the heart of the Central Business District just directly above Tanjong Pagar MRT station.
UMove Fitness on the other hand is now based at SAFRA club Mount Faber where Michel is based not only in teaching classes but also creating online content to provide further education to the UMove community both locally and globally.
Our Training Methodology
Start with Pilates
When you train with us, we recommend you to start with Pilates classes first. This is to build a good foundation of body awareness and decent overall strength and flexibility.
Progress with Calisthenics
Once a good base of fitness is laid out through Pilates training, we widen your base further by gradually progressing towards Calisthenics training.
More freedom with Movement concepts
One unique element that we provide in our training is what we have learned from attending Ido Portal’s workshops and Movement camps. Working with the Movement concept covers a very wide range of training about moving the body. We work on coordination training, footwork, balance, and even visual training to exemplify the concept. This type of training is incorporated around the classes that we teach especially in our Calisthenics classes.
We are a team of passionate fitness practitioners who live each day trying to improve not only our health but the health and fitness knowledge of our students. We are not regular fitness instructors who get certified without years of practice. The reverse is true for our team. We are mostly practitioners for years first and ended up teaching what we love to do.
Our main priorities are ensuring that each of our students gets stronger, more flexible, and adaptable to their environment.
We believe in a simple approach; that means no fancy equipment or trendy exercise that are here today and gone tomorrow.
We share this simple, straightforward, effective, and sustainable training method that our clients not only benefit from in the present but as they age gracefully through time.
